Claude Corps is Anthropic’s $150M fellowship that places early-career people with US nonprofits for a year. Pay, who can apply, cohort dates and how hosting works.

Claude Corps is a paid, one-year fellowship from Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI models. It hires early-career people, trains them to use Claude, and sends them to work full time inside American nonprofits, like food banks, youth programs and veteran groups.

The name is now showing up in search as people look for the salary, the application, and the next cohort. Here is what the program is, who runs it, what it pays, and how to apply as a fellow or as a host nonprofit, using only what Anthropic and its partners have published.

**TL;DR:** Claude Corps is Anthropic’s national AI fellowship, announced June 11, 2026 with an initial $150 million. Fellows earn an $85,000 salary plus benefits for 12 months of full-time, in-person work at a US nonprofit, helping it use Claude. The first cohort of about 100 fellows was set to start in October 2026, with the goal of 1,000 fellows in the first year. You must be 18 or older, have less than two years of full-time work experience, and be authorized to work in the US. No degree is required.

## What is Claude Corps?

Anthropic calls Claude Corps a national fellowship for early-career people who want to bring the benefits of AI to communities across America. Think of it like a service year, similar in spirit to programs such as AmeriCorps, but focused on one skill: using AI tools to help a nonprofit do more with a small team.

A fellow joins one host organization for a year. They spend most of their time there, working on real problems the nonprofit has, such as analyzing data, writing reports, building simple tools or speeding up paperwork. They also keep training: after an intensive start, fellows get about five hours of training a week.

The program is run by three groups:

- **Anthropic** pays for it, sets the strategy and brings Claude expertise, including office hours for technical questions.

- **CodePath**, a nonprofit that helps first-generation and low-income students get into tech, is the fellows’ employer of record. It recruits, trains and mentors them.

- **Social Finance**, a nonprofit and registered investment advisor, measures results and is building a longer-term way to fund the program as it grows.

## What is the Claude Corps salary?

Anthropic’s announcement lists an $85,000 full-time salary with benefits. The money does not come from the nonprofit: Anthropic funds the program and CodePath is the legal employer. Fellows also get a budget of Claude tokens, which is the credit you spend to use the AI, so they can work without paying for it themselves.

Host nonprofits do not pay the fellow. Each one receives a $10,000 implementation grant to cover the time and setup it takes to bring a fellow on board, according to the Associated Press and Social Finance.

## Who can apply to Claude Corps?

The requirements are short. According to Anthropic, you need to:

- Be 18 or older.

- Have fewer than two years of full-time work experience.

- Be authorized to work in the United States.

- Be comfortable working with Claude.

- Be willing to move if needed. Relocation support is offered.

Any educational background is welcome. CodePath CEO Michael Ellison told the AP that the program does not require a certain degree. The fellowship is US-only for now. Anthropic says it hopes to build a model other countries can copy, but it has not announced a version for India, Canada, the UK or anywhere else.

## Claude Corps cohort 1, 2 and 3: the dates

| Cohort | Start | Applications |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Cohort 1 | October 2026 (about 100 fellows) | Closed July 17, 2026 |
| Cohort 2 | March 2027 per Anthropic’s announcement; a later host webinar says late February 2027 | Rolling |
| Cohort 3 | August 2027 | Rolling |

If you missed the first round, the next two are still open. The application for fellows lives on Anthropic’s site at anthropic.com/claude-corps/fellow, and the listing itself is hosted on Greenhouse, which is why "Claude Corps Greenhouse" shows up in search.

## How to become a Claude Corps host organization

Nonprofits apply at anthropic.com/claude-corps/host. Anthropic says host applications are open for every start date. For cohort 2, Anthropic ran a webinar with CodePath and Social Finance that described an intake interview opening October 12 and due October 23, followed by matching. Hosts sign agreements with CodePath and Social Finance.

Early hosts named by Anthropic include StriveTogether in Cincinnati, Montgomery County Food Bank in Conroe, Texas, REEF in Key Largo, Florida, Team Red, White & Blue, Code the Dream, Braven and the YMCA of Greater Charlotte. StriveTogether’s CEO told the AP the organization is hosting two fellows.

## Is Claude Corps worth it?

It depends on what you want. The upside is clear: a paid year, real AI work at an organization with a mission, training from CodePath and access to Anthropic’s team. For someone early in their career, that is a strong line on a résumé.

The trade-offs are just as clear. It is full time and in person, so you may need to move. It lasts one year, with no promise of a job after. And the program is new. Anthropic says it will be evaluated after its first year before deciding whether to continue and grow, so there are no alumni results to judge yet.

## What this means for you

Claude Corps is a bet that the hard part of AI is not the model, it is knowing how to put it to work on a real job. Most small teams do not have a fellow to show them. That is the gap [agentic AI](https://whatisagenticai.net/what-is-agentic-ai/) tries to close: you describe the task, and the AI plans the steps and does them.

**Agentic AI** gives you a small team of expert agents on your iPhone and iPad. You can ask it to draft a grant summary, plan a volunteer schedule or research a topic, and up to four agents split the work. It runs on frontier models, so you skip choosing between them, and there is no account to create. It is a quick way to practice the same skills a fellowship teaches, before you apply.
