Kling 4.0 is Kling AI’s new video model, launched October 15, 2026. What it does, the 30-second limit, Omni Reference, Flash vs full, price, and how to try it.

Kling 4.0 is the newest AI video model from Kling AI, the video company spun out of China’s Kuaishou. If your feed is suddenly full of long, smooth AI clips with the same character in every shot, there is a good chance this is the model behind them.

People are searching for the same handful of things: what Kling 4.0 actually does, when it came out, whether it is free, and how it stacks up against ByteDance’s Seedance. Here is what is confirmed, in plain words.

**TL;DR:** Kling 4.0 is an AI video generator from Kling AI (owned mostly by Kuaishou). It was shown on September 28, 2026 and officially launched on October 15. It makes clips up to 30 seconds long in one pass, double Kling 3.0’s 15 seconds, and lets you steer a clip with up to 15 reference files and up to 10 keyframes. A lighter Kling 4.0 Flash version reached annual subscribers first. Kling has not published a separate price for 4.0.

## What is Kling 4.0?

Kling 4.0 (also written Kling 4 or KLING 4.0) is a text-to-video and image-to-video model. You describe a scene, or upload pictures and short clips, and it generates a video. Kuaishou says the upgrade focuses on three things: realism, control and professional quality.

In practice that means three headline changes:

- **Longer clips.** Up to 30 seconds in a single generation. Kling’s own page lists a range of 3 to 30 seconds, and says a separate Video Extension tool can stretch a scene to about 2 minutes.

- **Steadier motion.** Kuaishou says fast action and complex camera moves stay smoother, with fewer glitches between frames.

- **More control.** A system called Omni Reference and up to 10 keyframes let you pin down how a character, outfit or scene should look at different points in the clip.

## Kling 4.0 release date

The rollout came in steps, which is why searches for "when is Kling 4.0 coming out" and "is Kling 4.0 out" are both popular:

- **September 28, 2026:** Kling unveiled the model. Bloomberg reported the 30-second limit and the 10 keyframes the same day. A lighter version went to annual subscribers while the full model stayed in testing.

- **October 15, 2026:** Kling 4.0 officially launched, according to Kuaishou’s announcement released on October 19.

- **October 23, 2026:** Third-party apps began building on it. Perfect Corp. said its YouCam apps were among the first to integrate the newly released Kling 4.0 API, turning photos into 30-second stories.

## What is Kling 4.0 Omni Reference?

Omni Reference is the part that makes Kling 4.0 useful for real projects, not just one-off clips. Older video models often let a face or outfit drift halfway through a video. Omni Reference tries to stop that by letting you feed the model examples to stick to.

Kling’s product page lists the limits: up to 15 reference assets in total, made up of up to 10 images, up to 5 reference videos (30 seconds combined) and up to 7 subjects, plus voice references. Keyframes are separate: you can place up to 10 images along the timeline to set what the scene should look like at those moments.

A simple example: upload three photos of your dog, one clip of your backyard, and two keyframes (dog by the door, dog catching a ball). Kling 4.0 is meant to keep it the same dog in the same yard for the full 30 seconds.

## Kling 4.0 vs Kling 4.0 Flash vs Kling 3.0

There are two versions of the new model. Kling 4.0 Flash is the lighter, faster one that early subscribers got first. Here is how the confirmed details line up:

| | Kling 3.0 | Kling 4.0 Flash | Kling 4.0 (full) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Max clip length | 15 seconds | 20 seconds (per third-party listings) | 30 seconds |
| Resolution | Varies by plan | 720p (per third-party listings) | 1080p today; 4K and 10-bit HDR listed as coming soon |
| Reference assets | Fewer | Omni Reference supported | Up to 15 |
| Keyframes | Start and end frames | Not confirmed | Up to 10 |
| Who got it first | Earlier release | Annual subscribers, from September 28 | Everyone, from October 15 |

One honest note: Kling’s own page says "up to 4K" in one place and labels 4K and HDR "coming soon" in another, and API host Runware lists 1080p live with 4K coming soon. Until Kling clears that up, assume 1080p is what you get today.

Sound is part of the package too. YouCam’s launch release says its Kling 4.0 videos include dialogue, sound effects and stereo audio with lip-synced speech in 9+ languages.

## Kling 4.0 vs Seedance 2.5

"Kling 4.0 vs Seedance 2.5" is the most searched Kling 4.0 question right now. Seedance is ByteDance’s video model, and version 2.5 came out in July 2026. Bloomberg described Kling 4.0 as Kuaishou’s attempt to close the gap with ByteDance, which it called the industry leader.

No independent, side-by-side benchmark of the two has been published yet, so any site that declares a clear winner is guessing. What we can say: Kling 4.0’s clear selling points are the 30-second single pass and the deep reference controls. If you already pay for one of the two, test the same prompt on both before switching.

## Is Kling 4.0 free? What does it cost?

Kling has not announced a separate price for Kling 4.0, and neither announcement listed one. The Kling app and website run on paid plans and credits, and the early Flash version was limited to annual subscribers. Developers can reach Kling 4.0 through early API partners such as Runware, but per-second prices vary by platform, so check the current pricing page before you build anything on it.

## How to try Kling 4.0

- Go to the Kling AI website or download the Kling app on iPhone.

- Open Video Generation and choose Kling 4.0 as the model.

- Pick text-to-video, image-to-video, or add references with Omni Reference.

- Set the length (up to 30 seconds), add keyframes if you want, and generate.

## Who makes Kling 4.0?

Kling AI is a Beijing-based unit of Kuaishou Technology, the company behind the Kuaishou short-video app. Kling raised about $2 billion in its first outside funding round in July 2026, and Kuaishou kept a majority stake. Kling’s annual recurring revenue hit about $500 million in March 2026, up from about $300 million in January, according to Bloomberg. The company is reportedly preparing a possible Hong Kong listing.

## What this means for you

Kling 4.0 makes the video part easier, but the hard part of a good clip is still the plan: the idea, the script, the shot order, and the prompt for each shot. That is work an AI agent is good at. In **Agentic AI**, you can ask a small team of agents to research a topic, write a 30-second script, break it into keyframes and draft a prompt for each one. Then you paste those into whichever video model you like. You do not have to pick a chat model first, and you do not need an account to start.
